Kid fights like wolverine but has the healing factor of bullshit everytime. Totally took away all the consequences of his actions, but then again this isn't new to Gon. His healing just made it even worse, it was literally dragonball level bad of just wishing the thing away. Just, oh Gon's pissed, now he's big and kicking pitou's ass. It's just unnecessary, it would be one thing to give him something of a fighting chance, but his absurd previously unheard of powerup just is completely broken and doesn't feel like anything built up to that efficiently.

When seasoned pros are having their asses kicked, this kid goes to a level of absolute dominance. I don't buy the extreme trauma excuse for a powerup of that magnitude for him.

If I recall correctly, they're going there for territory control and to take Shoichi hostage.Ĭharacters that have no business being there are Gon and Killua, they're only there because they're the protagonists. And we get great new additions like X-Burner (still one of the coolests main techniques a Shonen MC has), Irie Shoichi and Spanner.ĮDIT: And it's one of the few Raid arcs that's not a rescue mission. It's only got one twist at the end, has great fights like Yamamoto vs. That whole arc and the mind games concerning Something and the Zoldyck family were fantastic (Killua did more than just save his best friend), along with seeing all the people that were affected by Gon's adventure and were willing to sacrifice a lot to heal the kid.Īnd the Merone Base Invasion is great. And what's wrong with the powerup? The specific way in which he powers up makes perfect sense considering he's an Enhancer, is an a state of extreme trauma and has figures like Kite and Hisoka among what he recognizes as "strong". And what do you mean characters who "had no business being there"? The characters there were top hunters trusted by Netero who was leading the op. When the set up leads to a culmination as good as the Palace raid, then it can be as long as it needs to.
